About me
Who I Am
Hello, I'm Nicolas, a first-generation professional with over 15 years of experience in Learning & Development, Communications, and Content Design across tech, education, and journalism. Fluently bilingual in Spanish, I hold a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and a BA in English from Montclair State University. My journey in both the public and private sectors has strengthened my belief that the best solutions come from truly understanding the people we're here to help.
How I Collaborate
My approach to collaboration is rooted in two key principles: active listening and vulnerability. I listen with empathy, fostering a sense of community as we work together toward solutions. By embracing vulnerability, I bring my authentic self—personally and professionally—ready to navigate uncertainty and take calculated risks as we tackle new challenges. I value diverse perspectives and enjoy mentoring others, believing that great ideas can come from anywhere.
My Process
In creating engaging content and instructional designs, I prioritize the user's needs and motivations. By deeply understanding the end user's goals and anticipating potential challenges, I aim to craft experiences that are not only relevant and impactful but also empower individuals to access the knowledge they need to succeed. I leverage data and feedback to continuously refine my work, ensuring that it remains effective and aligned with the user's evolving needs.
Outside of Work
Beyond my professional pursuits, I find joy in spending quality time with my family, exploring new cuisines, and embarking on family adventures. Fútbol (soccer), calisthenics, and rock climbing keep my spirits high, and I enjoy grooving to melodic house music. I’m also an active member of the Association for Talent Development NYC, where I engage with a broader community to share knowledge and drive industry best practices and volunteer at the Close the Gap Foundation, a network dedicated to assisting vulnerable populations navigate the workforce.
